The Bischling, a forested hill next to the impressive limestone cliffs of the Tennengebirge, may seem inconspicuous at first. But it’s well worth taking the cable car—it leads to a real “gem” with a magnificent high Alpine panorama! From the Gosaukamm and the Bischofsmütze in the east, across the Großglockner in the south, your view stretches all the way to the mighty Hochkönig massif and the Hagengebirge in the west. The Bischling is one of the mostpopular flying mountains for paragliders and hang-gliders throughout the Salzburg region. Its sheltered location often guarantees optimal weather conditions—even when other places are too windy.
From early May to the end of October, and again fromDecember to the end of the season, the cable car takes both beginners and pros directly to the launch site without needing to change lifts. The launch site Bischlinghöhe is at 1,834 m elevation, just a few meters from the top station and right next to the Bischlinghöhe mountain inn. The site is not only easy to reach but also almost always has favorable winds. A flat meadow serves as the launch point, offering ample space and excellent conditions for paragliders and hang-gliders.
